Hualien Danongdafu Forest Park, bicycle tour riding in the forest surrounded by mountains is a great enjoyment, spring to appreciate flowers, summer to appreciate the fireflies, autumn and winter to appreciate the maple, no matter what time of the year, this flatland forest park has a different beauty, there are large areas of grassland with a wide field of vision, but also a long green tunnel for you to stroll through, it is very recommended to come here to walk ~

Prairie & Installation Art
Before heading to Danon Dafu, you will pass through a straight road, which is kind of like the King Kong Boulevard (it would be even more so if the side is replaced by a rice paddy).

After parking your car, you can rent a bike near the service center, especially note that there are opening hours here, Monday is not open, other days are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the day I came, I forgot to look at the time, 5:00 p.m., still roaming in the forest…. I forgot to check the time on the day I came, and was still roaming in the forest at 5pm…, which caused the store to wait for me to return the bike, which was really embarrassing…

The service center is surrounded by a large grassland landscape, and Danong Dafu is located in the East Rift Valley of Huadong, surrounded by the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range, with a very beautiful scenery.

There are also many art installations in the grassland, ideal for couples and children to take photos (the photo below is an ants’ nest).

The area below is the Totem Flower Sea area, but when I came here, there were only grass and some small red flowers left, the guide sign said that the flowering period is from November to December.

But these little flowers are pretty, too.

Next to the Totem Flower Sea is the North Ring Road, which surrounds the entire forest, and there are asphalt roads and wooden boardwalks in the forest! In the picture below, the boardwalk is a walking path, and you can only walk on it, not bike on it, so you have to pay special attention to it, and there are chairs inside for tourists to rest on.

Forest Bike Trail
On the North Ring Road, you can see the turnoffs and ride into the forest (there are maps in many parts of the park, so you can look at the maps to find the turnoffs), but remember to follow the directions, as the forest is a one-way road, to avoid collisions when there are many tourists! I’ve accidentally gone in the opposite direction in the forest myself.

A quick glance around reveals that the trees here are superbly planted!

After riding into the forest is the beginning of the super super long green tunnel, you will find that although it seems to be similar to the scenery, but in fact, the actual feeling inside is not the same, with the different species of trees, different heights of trees, there are very different portions, the following is to put a few pictures of the green tunnel to share with you ~ have the opportunity to ride through it before you know.

Since there are many straight roads, I was bored that day and kept trying to find an S-shaped forest road to shoot, there are a lot of S-shaped roads, but it takes a lot of searching to find a dense and neat forest background ~ I finally got the picture I wanted!

Observe the road carefully, the falling green leaves and dead leaves are also a beautiful scenery here.

There are also maple trees growing in the forest area, so I think it would be nice to ride in the red of the maple, and I would like to come back in the fall and winter next time.

In addition to the S-shaped road that I’ve been looking for above, the other thing I’ve been looking for is the Totoro Tunnel… I think it looks quite similar to the ones below, and there are still a lot of places waiting to be explored.

The day I went there was around May, and it rained quite often, so many roads in the forest were covered with moss, and there was special control in the park, where the mossy roads were completely blocked off and bicycles were prohibited from entering the park, which also avoided the risk of tourists slipping and falling.

North-South Ring Road
In addition to the bike trails in the forest, the north-south ring road in the outer ring is also a good experience, and the road and the field of view are relatively wide, so you can glide slowly with more relaxation.

There is also an idyllic landscape nearby, surrounded by the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range, and the forest on the right in the picture is the forest bike trail that you have just been cycling around in, so this is a really recommended place for cycling!
