Taitung Chishang Dapo Pond, scenery of mountains and lakes。
Taitung Chishang Dapo Pond Scenic Area is located on the east side of the East Rift Valley of Huadong, and because it is close to the coastal mountains, it offers a panoramic view of mountains and lakes, and the nearby rice paddies are green in the spring and summer, and the lake is covered with a large number of aquatic plants, making it look like a grassland! It’s worth a walk or a bike ride around the lake!

Dapo Pond Scenic Area
From time to time, there are activities organized by the Chihshang Township Office in the round square. Driving from the Taijiu Line, you can get to the parking lot next to the square immediately, and you can have a panoramic view of the coastal mountain range and the lake! Most of the tourists who come to Dapochi Scenic Area gather here. Originally, I was going to walk around the square and take photos before leaving, but after walking for a short while, I found the scenery very beautiful, so I walked around the whole area!

View of the north to west side of the Dapo Pond
Dapo Pond is a natural lake formed by a faulty depression, which was used in the early days to solve drainage problems during typhoons and heavy rains, and was later converted into a scenic area with a well-developed walking trail around the lake.

There are water facilities for rent in the lower part of the plaza.

There is a large area of turf around the lake, which is suitable for parents and children to have a picnic, but remember to take the garbage with you! (This is an open area and there is no charge, so if you can maintain it, you can do it yourself.)

There are more than 20 species of fish native to the pond, but due to the proliferation of exotic species of fish, which endangers the native species here, the Chihshang Township Office organizes fishing tournaments from time to time~, and I’ve attached the link below, so you can only fish for exotic species! (The old man at the lake below is fishing.)

Rafting seasons are also held from time to time, and information is linked to the village office above.

Visitors can sit down anywhere and stare at the lake.

As you look away from the lake, you can see green rice paddies and mountains along the road, which is my idea of a typical Ikegami view.

Bougainvillea is a common plant in Dapo Pond, which blooms most abundantly in June and July in Taiwan, but only a little bit bloomed in the beginning of May on this trip.

View of south side to east side of Dapo Pond
Starting from the south side, you can see a lot of aquatic plants covering the lake surface, just like a grassland ~ I love this place more than the empty northwest side of the lake, so I decided to go around the lake, and walked counterclockwise with the square as the starting point.

Be careful not to think it’s turf and step on it, you’ll fall into the lake…

Love the two photos below ~ a few small trees with the lake view.

As there are many plants in the water, the south and east sides are also the most crowded places for water birds, and there are hundreds of wild birds in Daepochi, so I didn’t bring my long lens with me this time, so I had to just watch them fly around.

There is a wooden walkway on the east side of the lake where the lotus area begins.

The only thing left are the lotus flowers, which bloom from June to September, and in summer you can see a lot of them and the phoenix-eye flower (the flower of the water hyacinth).

The entire large slope of the pool quite often this small green tunnel, some areas can be seen in the cultivation of saplings, the entire scenic area are very carefully planned for the future appearance of it, all the way around there is no garbage in the park!

On the northeastern side of the lake, a path was filled in, and small larch trees were planted along the roadside. I am looking forward to seeing a whole row of large, pointed larch trees grow in the future!

When you come to the area without water plants, it means that you have to go back to the square, probably because the water facilities are all located in this area, so there is a special effort to organize the water.
