Chiayi Dulishan trail ,Forest Railway Train Scenic View.
Chiayi Dulishan trail (Independence Mountain Trail), from Zhangnaoliao Station to Fengtian Rock, this old road trip will pass through a small train track section, and if you are lucky, you can even see the train passing by. It is a trail that is easy to reach at a low elevation, and it is worth a visit for a trekking trip on the forest railroad.

Cheung Nau Liu Station(樟腦寮車站)
The Mt. Independence Trail begins and ends at Changnouliao Station, and the green tunnel attracted me as soon as I parked my car nearby, and the railroad tracks on the ground made it even more impressive.

The group had a great time right from the start, and I enjoyed capturing these moments.

Walking along the railroad tracks in front of the station, you will come to the elevated railroad bridge. Although there is not much shade from the sun, the view from here is very good – you can see the nearby mountains from a distance.

The bridge overlooks a small waterfall in the distance.

Dulishan trail(Independence Hill Trail)
After crossing the railroad bridge, you have to take the fork in the right side of the cave, the cave is for the train to go, people are not allowed to enter, otherwise the train will come to be very dangerous, I have always told my companions that there will be a train here, at first no one believed me….

These butterflies are everywhere ~ almost always resting on the fence and waving their wings.

For the first suspension bridge, be aware that there is a limit to the number of people. (On the map at the end of the article is suspension bridge number two)

Next to the suspension bridge is the railroad track, this railroad track is just where the train cave will come out, if you hike the cave you will not be able to go back to this human walkway… Don’t make a mistake!

A small stream by the railroad tracks.

After crossing the suspension bridge, we started to climb all the way up to the triangle point of Mount Independence, about 200 to 300 meters up.

Though it is an upward journey, the first half of the journey is generally well-traveled wooden trestle steps, and the second half is uneven stone steps, and the whole journey is almost under the trees ~ (below 1000 meters above sea level, it will still be hot, but it is cooler in the fall and winter).

During the climb, there are a few areas where you can see the route from afar. This elevated railroad is the one that comes out from Zhangnouliu station at the beginning, and it’s strange that there were many people on the way here, but there was no one on the bridge at the time of taking this photo.

Before the triangle to Independence Hill, there will be a railroad track. When the train didn’t come yet, I told my friends that I wanted to wait for the train to come, and I wanted to take a picture of the train, but they still didn’t believe that the train would pass by…. ,最後火車來了他們才相信,我也拍到了照片~(這裡鐵軌不是給人走的步道,火車經過也要禮讓)

After a flight of stone steps, you will reach this pavilion, which is the location of the triangle.

After the triangle, there is basically no more climbing, and there is a place where you can watch the train ahead.

Dulishan Station(獨立山車站)
A short way downhill from the trig point is the Independence Hills station. My partner said I should have taken the train up here, but I didn’t see any ticket agent, and I heard from the tourists that there weren’t many buses a day, and they all ran in the morning, so I didn’t intend to take one anyway.

Fengtian Rock(奉天岩)
The end point of the day was Fengtian Rock, not far from the Independence Hill Station, but it’s a small climb, it’s a temple, there is a grocery store selling movie materials nearby, and there is also a place for tourists to boil water and cook instant noodles ~ we settled here for lunch as well!

Bongtian Rock looking out of the mountain, when the weather is not very good foggy, if the weather is good, the vision must be good.

Rear section of Dulishan trail
Return we take another road back, here can not see the railroad tracks, all the way down, tourists are almost all noon after lunch to start back, this time the trail is considered busy, no matter how many points climbed up, most are after Chinese food to go down.

In the afternoon sun, the road back was also in the forest, and the rock walls were covered with parasitic plants.

This suspension bridge is the No.1 one in the map at the end of the article, it was closed for renovation and there was still a bridge underneath to walk on. (But later I found out that some tourists crossed the locking line and then went over the suspension bridge…) I don’t get it.)

The trail passes through a stream under the bridge, where the humid environment has nurtured many mosses and ferns. It is close to Zhangnouliao Station, so you can find a shaded spot to sit and relax as a final resting place, and listen to the sound of the stream, which is particularly healing! We’ll spend the rest of the afternoon here.

When you are almost there, you can see if there is a place to park, but when you get to the station, there may not be any space, especially on holidays.
