Taitung 東河橋遊憩區、登仙橋遊憩區,charming estuary view。Taiyuan Valley is located in the valley between Donghe Bridge and Taiyuan Village, and includes the Donghe Bridge Recreation Area, Dengxian Bridge Recreation Area, and the historically significant Xiao Ma Tunnel, all of which are worth stopping for a walk in Donghe’s scenic spots!

The East River Bridge Recreation Area is located at the old East River Bridge, the red bridge in the photo below is the new East River Bridge, the valley is directly connected to the ocean, and behind the red bridge is the Pacific Ocean ~ the first sight I saw when I walked into the recreation area made me look at it for more than 10 minutes!

Facing the mountain, you can see the turquoise-green Mawu Stream, with a large number of boulders between the valleys, all of which are viewed from the old Donghe Bridge.

This old bridge was rebuilt and renamed Donghe Bridge by Yoshida Bridge in 1952, more than half a century ago, and it is not difficult to tell from its old appearance that it has already passed through a period of history.
~For more information about the Old East River Bridge, click here (Wikipedia).

At present, only pedestrians are allowed to pass through, and motorcycles are prohibited!

There are many macaques here and they tend to appear in areas where there are a lot of tourists. I think it’s a feeding thing, but there are many signs nowadays telling tourists not to feed the monkeys, so let’s just observe them and watch quietly.

From the parking lot, after walking across the old bridge, there is a path that turns right, and there is a walkway that goes under the bridge and out to the sea, right next to the hut! (This hut is not a toilet!)

The vegetation under the old bridge is thick, and the banyan tree’s aerial roots are beginning to climb over the bridge.

I thought the trail would be in a state of disrepair, but I found it to be unexpectedly clean and tidy, which is my favorite wooden trek!

Walking will see a large pavilion, with three or five friends to stay an afternoon is a good choice, to the pavilion, there is a left turn to the stream side of the path ~

Remember the red bridge over the New East River that you saw at the beginning of this article? It’s behind you now.

The next step is to bask in the sun all the way to the Pacific Ocean, which is not far away.

Back at the parking lot of the recreation area, the mountains were covered with white clouds, which you can’t see from the western coast (even the view next to the parking lot is so beautiful!). The view was so beautiful even by the parking lot!

You can see the gateposts of Taiyuan Valley next to the parking lot, so keep driving inside and go to the next stop!

There are both new and old bridges, and the photo below shows the old bridge, which is also only walkable… Isn’t the spectacular canyon terrain very attractive?

This red bridge is the new bridge (it’s red like the aforementioned Shinto River Bridge~). The old and new bridges in Densen are at the same location, but they were built in different directions, so you can only take pictures of the old bridge from the new bridge, and the new bridge from the old bridge~.

After crossing the new bridge, there will be a sign on the left hand side of the recreation area, this is not a big place, just walk back a little bit to the old bridge, it will probably take you more than 10 minutes or so to stroll around this area, but the beauty of this place can’t possibly let you just stay for a few minutes and then leave…. I stayed for about an hour myself.

Apart from the topography of the canyon, another special feature of the area is the abundance of macaques (not sure if they can be considered a special feature anymore), and there are signs advising visitors not to feed them indiscriminately!
The entire Taiyuan Valley is characterized by three main features: green mountains, green water and macaques. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to walk slowly through the three Donghe attractions mentioned in this article.
