Kakuban Mountain Trail

Yaoyuan Jiaoban Mt. Park,Admiring the magnificent valley landscape.

Yaoyuan Jiaoban Mt. Park is located in the eastern part of Taoyuan, and because of the many surrounding mountains, hiking on the Jiao Ban Mountain Trail allows you to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery and look out over the Daxi River Valley. Once you get off the trail, it leads to the Xin Xikou Suspension Bridge and the Xikou Tribal Market Square, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the valley from the Suspension Bridge, which is quite a recommendation for you to take a walk yourself.

Jiaoban Mt. Park(角板山公園)

Kakubansan Park has plum blossoms in full bloom in winter. It was March when I arrived here, and the plum trees were already full of green leaves, so I could feel the spring air as soon as I entered the park.

Around the park, you can look south toward Xikou. I was very surprised that there was such a nice mountain view in the park (as a Tainaner, the parks are all on the plains), and Jiao Ban Shan Park is considered a scenic area ~ (Jiao Ban Shan Scenic Area)

Kakuban Hill Park

Visitors enjoy the mountain view from this cliff, which is safe with a small fence.

At first, I got a lot of sunshine, but later I realized that there were some big trees in some areas that could block the sunshine, so I took some photos while avoiding the summer heat, and here the sky was covered by the branches of the trees as my foreground.

If you look closely, you can also see the Xinxikou Suspension Bridge. Originally, we were just going to walk around the park on this day, but we realized that the trail leads to the suspension bridge at the bottom of the mountain.

Jiaoban Mt. Park

I was so unfamiliar with the area, I couldn’t find the way to the suspension bridge…. I realized that 80% of the tourists were going in the same direction, and I found a signboard after I followed it!

Upper Staircase Walkway(上階梯步道)

The Jiao Ban Mountain Trail is roughly divided into two trails, the Upper Staircase Trail and the Lower Staircase Trail, and it’s a good idea to go all the way down the trail. The Upper Staircase Trail often offers a view of the mountains (as long as it’s not blocked by trees, you’ll be able to see them all).

Kakuban Mountain Trail

The whole journey down the mountain is on this kind of wooden trestle trail, and it is quite spacious, so if you are tired of walking, you can find a shade to rest for a while without blocking others.

A large tree from the trail over, here is almost the end of the upper staircase trail, down a short distance you can see a small house, there will be someone will ask you if you want to walk on the suspension bridge, there to buy tickets to the suspension bridge ~!

Kakuban Mountain Trail

Lower Staircase Walkway(下階梯步道)

After buying the ticket, you will pass through a road, and then you will walk down the stairs. Thanks to the couple in front of me, they often appear in my photos.

Kakuban Mountain Trail

The next step of the trail is quite close to the Xikou Suspension Bridge, the angle of the overlook is getting lower and lower, there is no observation deck on the trail, so you have to find more angles to discover such pictures.

The difference between the Upper Staircase Trail and the Lower Staircase Trail is that the Lower Staircase Trail is more densely forested, less sunlight, but the visibility is relatively poorer, and it’s mostly like hiking in the forest.

There are a lot of bugs on the lower trail, so be careful of the large bees, there are many of them, so avoid them!

Xinxikou Suspension Bridge(新溪口吊橋)

  • Tickets: 50 per person
  • Opening hours: 08:00 – 16:00 daily (Closed on Tuesdays)

The suspension bridge is about 300 meters long, connecting Jiao Ban Mountain and Xikou Tribe. It is recommended to come early so that you can have a rest space to walk slowly on the way back. The whole way down from Jiao Ban Mountain is downhill, but the way back still requires a little bit of physical strength!

Xinxikou Suspension Bridge

The valley of the Daxi River is spacious, and the view from the suspension bridge is spectacular! You can also see eagles flying here, and because March is still the dry season, the riverbed is still a green grassland~.

The couple mentioned above is still walking in front of me, we are both walking and stopping to take photos at the same pace, so I’ll let them be the story of my photos here at the suspension bridge~!

After crossing the suspension bridge, you can reach the Xikou Tribe, this is my final stop for the day, the square sells drinks and sausages and other snacks, but the price must be higher than the city (sightseeing spots), I drank my own water, if you decide to walk here, make sure you bring enough water with you! If you decide to walk here, make sure you bring enough water with you, you will need to drink a lot on the way back.
