Tainan Xuejia 老塘湖藝術村,An area filled with antique charm。
Tainan Xuejia 老塘湖藝術村 is built by the finger-painting artist Kuang Jinfu (Kuang Yi). He collected a bunch of old materials and created this place with a vintage artistic style, giving it an ancient city vibe. Spent half a day wandering around here, sharing what we saw during the stroll

The entrance area of the park
As soon as you step into the entrance, you can see old-fashioned machinery, stone flooring, wooden beams supporting the ceiling, and walls built with stacked bricks. You can feel the strong ancient vibe even before going inside
he first half of the park
In the front area, there’s a small open space and a well. Facing the main gate, on the left-hand side, you’ll find the studio where the artist Kuang Yi creates his works
In the studio, some of the displayed artworks were painted just in the past few years. The artist, Kuang Jinfu, had the chance to receive guidance from a painter during his childhood. Later, facing a lack of resources, he relied on his own exploration. He used his fingers as brushes to create one portrait after another.
The bedroom behind the studio has a layout commonly seen in historical dramas.
Next to the studio is the bathroom. At first, I thought it was for display, and I searched around for quite a while without finding it. So, if you come here next time and need to use the restroom, just go straight in.
The middle section of the park
Here, there are quite a few banyan trees planted. There are two shops where you can buy food and drinks. There are plenty of seats, mostly under the shade of trees. With a breeze, even in summer, it’s quite cool. Perfect for sitting back, daydreaming, and enjoying some food.
The shade created by the trees is perfect for taking photos here. (On the day I visited, I saw a couple taking their wedding photos here.
The interior of the old house seems to be for viewing, and I didn’t specifically ask if we could sit inside.
Store No.1: Primarily sells snacks and drinks. There’s a sign in front of the counter indicating the items for sale along with their prices. (It would add even more flavor if they used ancient cooking utensils to prepare the food.
Store No.2: Specializes in selling main dishes. This one is built with bricks, while the one above is made of wood.
You can also rent costumes here.
The back half of the park
In the back half, you’ll mostly find these brick walls stacked with tiles – quite unique. However, there’s no place to sit and take a rest, so let’s just continue strolling.
Looking at the entire lake from the back, it’s quite spacious. The whole park is filled with trees, so no need to worry about getting sunburned.
At the very end, there’s also a wooden bridge. Walk across, and you’ll reach the middle of the lake.
Island in the middle of the lake
There’s a temple dedicated to the God of Wealth on the island, and under some eaves, there are wooden benches where you can sit and take a rest.
There’s a small bamboo raft on the island, used to transport visitors back and forth (between the front section and the island). However, the boat moves by pulling a rope, so if you’re worried about getting your hands dirty, you can just walk back along the path (or wait for someone else to pull).
