Hualien Lintienshan Forestry Culture Park,Wooden buildings hidden in the forest.
Hualien Lintienshan Forestry Culture Park, where logging has ceased, maintains a large number of Japanese-style buildings and restores part of the forest railway for tourists to experience. In the park, not only can you appreciate the wooden buildings hidden in the forest, but you can also smell the scent of wood coming from time to time.

Agency Garage
The first thing I saw when I arrived at the park’s parking lot that day was the agency garage, and as soon as I stepped out of the car, I could see the prominent yellow front end of the car. In the early days of the railroad, the agency cars were used to transport cut timber and supplies for forest construction, but with the popularity of the highway, they were replaced by trucks, which are now placed outside the garage for visitors to see.

Forestry Heritage Exhibition Hall
You need to take off your shoes to enter the museum, and you can smell the strong scent of wood at the entrance. Inside the museum, there are a large number of daily necessities of the people of the olden times as well as instruments used in logging at that time, so you can come in and take a look around if you want to know more about the history of the olden times.

Forestry Reminiscence Center (Medical Office)
When you come to the exhibition hall, you can immediately go to the nostalgic museum area, the first room is the medical room, look inside, there are a lot of dummies made to simulate the situation at that time (don’t be scared).

Wood Carving Museum
Wood Sculpture Museum was a public cafeteria in the early days of the forest, there are two large pieces of broken wood in front of the museum displays the works of many wood carvers, and there are also wood products for sale, I feel that if you want to choose souvenirs of the forest farm, buying wood products is very memorable value.

Woodland Reminiscence Center (Yonemori)
The rice store is right next to the medical clinic. In the early days, after a windstorm in the Hualien area, it was often necessary to wait several decades for the roads to open up again, and the rice store’s stock of food was able to solve the problem of food cuts for the forest workers and the residents in the vicinity.

It’s not hard to see that the buildings here are all consistent, with black shingles on the roofs and timber on the bodies.

Plaza
The Plaza was the hottest place in Lam Tin Shan in the early days, with merchants setting up stalls in the morning and an open-air movie theater in the evening. In those days, it could be said that the Plaza was bustling with activity all day long, and it was a place that was inextricably linked to every resident of Lam Tin Shan.

Continue up the stairs next to the square.

Looking back up the stairs, the nostalgic museum area is on the right and the dormitories around the square are on the left.

Xudongting
In the early days, the forester of the forest found that the view here was excellent and hired workers to build a pavilion here. In addition to overlooking the neighborhood, you can also see the rising sun on the east coast, and the view is very good for taking pictures.

Overlooking the neighborhood from the gazebo~

You can get a good diagonal of the Onsen Line Railroad from this angle.

Hot Spring Line Railroad (in front of the service center)
The Hot Springs Line is the starting point of the Mountain Line Railway, and the scenery along the line is beautiful. This section of the wooden elevated railroad is elevated in the air, and is surrounded by dense forests on both sides, which is one of my favorite parts of the park, and is very distinctive!

Light and shadow under the wooden bridge

Service Center
Earlier it was a dormitory for the chief of the forest, now it is a service center, it is the only place in the park where you can eat, and I ate my lunch in there (not bad ~), at that time, I personally think there is a shortcoming in the appearance of the place, that is, there are a lot of modern umbrellas placed (not very good with the Japanese architecture…). I think it’s a good place to visit, but there are a lot of modern umbrellas.

Hot Spring Line Railroad (in front of Circle Plaza)
After lunch, walk under the wooden bridge and you will see a concrete house (one of the few non-timber buildings in the park), where the railroad tracks start to be made up of stone pavement.

This side of the wooden bridge has been under the shade of trees for a long time and has grown a lot of moss.

The two straight tracks between the trees are the most photographed attraction.

The small wooden cart in the photo was called a wooden horse at that time, which was mainly used to collect timber. The so-called timber collection was the transportation of logs after felling trees through mechanical or human power for centralized operation, and the wooden horse, with its convenient and highly motorized characteristics, became an important auxiliary tool at that time.

Mechanical Repair Factory
Along the hot springs line railroad immediately to the repair shop, the early responsible for the maintenance of the machinery of the entire forest, machinery damage shutdown will seriously affect the overall operation, but also affect the income of the workers, can be said to be the core of the forest ah!

Mori Wing Elementary School
In the early days, forest children had to go to an elementary school several kilometers away to study, so this Mori Veng Elementary School was built, which has been abandoned for many years and most of the area has been used as a parking lot.

On the right side of the photo is Mori Wing Elementary School, and on the left side is Zhongshan Hall, where we are going to visit next.

Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Church
It was an important venue for assembly activities at that time, such as graduation ceremonies, drama performances and other large-scale activities were held here. Later, the forest farm also purchased a movie projector to provide free movie viewing, and there is still an old-fashioned movie projector placed in the Zhongshan Hall for tourists to visit.

Circular Plaza
There is a large area of wooden circular floor next to the Nakayama Hall where you can sit and rest for a while (almost all of them are shady~).

Looking down from the plaza, you can see the elevated wooden railroad hidden among the trees.

Looking to the side, you can see the service center where we had lunch that day, and I like this angle!

Hong Lok San Tsuen and the fire hazard site
Located at the back of the Visitor Center, Hong Lok San Tsuen was built in the early days as a staff dormitory to cope with the peak of the logging season and the need for a large number of workers.

A fire memorial park was created to remind the public of the fire candles after the dormitory was completely destroyed by an unnamed fire.

The site of the fire was a former staff dormitory that had burned down.

You can see the back of the service center when you walk down from Hong Lok San Tsuen, and you can also walk directly into the service center from here.

Director’s Pavilion
The chief’s house is of course the dormitory of the chief of the forest, this was the last stop on the day, next to the Xudong Pavilion, the view is not bad, the chief’s house is the most luxurious building in the whole forest! The chief’s dormitory is not bad either (service center), you can stroll around the whole park for a long time and take pictures of it, I arrived at about 9:30am and left at about 1:30pm~.

Park Route Planning
The order of the yellow arrows is the route I took that day (I think it’s pretty smooth ~), and the order of the photos in the article is basically the same ~ I hope it helps.
Warm reminder: always bring your own mosquito repellent! The little black mosquitoes are extremely fierce! (Winter is fine)
