Railway Sites(鐵道遺址)
The railroad ruins are located next to Checheng Station, preserving the early train equipment for tourists to visit, and now there are also many shopping areas nearby where you can shop.

The Signal Building was a control room used to change train signals to ensure train safety and efficiency, and was a very important railway facility at that time.

The hinterland of the railroad site is not a small one, and many old locomotives and carriages have been placed in this area, which are now classified as railway heritage and preserved in a nostalgic atmosphere.

There is a special sign on the site that these artifacts are off-limits to climbing!

Checheng Railway Station(車埕火車站)
Checheng Station is the last stop on the Jiji Railway line. Surrounded by mountains and filled with nature, it is one of the reasons why I like it so much, and you can easily visit all the nearby attractions in Checheng by taking the train.

There is only one platform here, and only one side of the platform is currently in use.

The rest of the track is considered part of the railroad’s legacy, not in use anymore, and is accessible to tourists.

This is the ticket office for train tickets (the first time I’ve seen a ticket office separate from the platform).

Checheng Wood Storage Pond(車埕貯木池)
In the early days of the Checheng logging industry, in order to make the wood have a longer life, the use of wood storage ponds, the wood soaked in water to release resin to increase the durability of the current planning into a beautiful lakeside attraction!

I especially like to come here in the morning, when it is usually full of tourists, but in the morning, it is quiet and the slanting sunlight is warm, which creates a nice light and shadow.

This Japanese building on the lake is a simple restaurant (Hidden Tea Steam), you can also drink a movie (with low cost), I also ate there once, sitting inside while dining and enjoying the lake view is really a great enjoyment ah!

Larch trees are planted along the shore of the lake across from Hidden Tea, and in the fall you can see the beautiful red color of the pines, but in the summer the green color of the pines is also very attractive.

At present, there is a complete trail around the lake, the whole lake is not too big, walk slowly around a circle can be completed in more than ten minutes.

Larch forests look towards the direction of the hidden tea, is the key area of Checheng, there are wood industry exhibition halls, the old street and the station, the station does not take half an hour to walk here Oh!

At night, the Hidden Tea will turn on the lights, which is the brightest spot of the entire wood-storing pool, plus the reflection in the water is very suitable for night photography, as the stores here are closed at night, so there will not be too many tourists, as in the morning, you can enjoy the peace and quiet.

The following pictures were taken when the sun was about to go down, and it was also just after the heavy rain that I was able to get out and walk around a little bit ~, all in the neighborhood of the wood-storing pond, and the streets were almost deserted in the evening.

Checheng Wood Industry Exhibition Hall
(車埕老街)
The exhibition hall was converted from a former wooden factory that used to specialize in sawing wood, but it was abandoned for a long time before it was turned into a tourist attraction, and you can see the huge and special-shaped roof from afar.

The houses at the entrance are mostly wooden buildings and are now mostly stores selling souvenirs (next to the wooden bridge).

The exhibition hall is a large open space where you can immediately smell the strong smell of wood, which records the history of the early Checheng wood manufacturing industry.

In the back, there is a small area for children to ride on the train, and there are small shopping centers selling souvenirs, so you can take a stroll.

Checheng Old Street
The old street is located behind the station and near the Wooden Industry Exhibition Center, and is full of nostalgia with low-rise bungalows and tiled roads.

There are a lot of Checheng snacks in there. When I arrived here that day, it was only 7:00 in the morning, and most of the stores were not yet open, only the Dongguan tea seller Dongguan Bo sells it (it’s delicious!) ~ At noon, I went to the side of the Hidden Tea to have a meal while looking at the lake view.

Ming Tam Reservoir, Power Station
(明潭水庫、發電廠)
Mingtan Reservoir is just a few minutes drive above the Checheng area. If you have more time, you can come here to enjoy the valley terrain, I think it’s about 15 minutes.

There is also a free parking lot next to the park!

Checheng Muzue Road(車埕木馬道)
The wooden horse trail (Checheng Leisure Agricultural Area) is not a big place, but it is mainly for people to experience dragging a wooden horse and experience DIY of local ingredients, which is very suitable for trips with children to increase parent-child interaction!

In the early days, due to the inconvenience of developing roads in the mountainous areas, the wooden horse pictured below was often used to transport timber. In the early days, the wooden horse road would pass halfway over a bridge or on a slope, which was a very dangerous transportation operation at that time.

Minghu Lake Reservoir, Taikwan Power Station
(明湖水庫、大觀發電廠)
The Minghu Lake Reservoir is the same as the Mingtan mentioned above where you can enjoy the valley terrain. It is almost ten minutes drive north from Checheng, and you can visit the Daguan Power Plant next to the reservoir! Open from 9:00~16:00 (closed on Mondays), you can take children to learn about the principles of power generation and the construction of the power plant.

Shuili Snake Kiln(水里蛇窯)
Shui Li Snake Kiln is Taiwan’s representative kiln, but also has the significance of cultural heritage, into the park you can find a lot of planting phi, I like the landscaping inside, it will make people slow down the pace of relaxation ~ ~

This is about 30 meters long earthen kiln cave, standing on the second floor to see the really spectacular, there are kiln making experience here also have a restaurant can eat and drink Oh! It’s also a good place to bring your kids.

You can also walk around the inside of the long kiln cave.

Suiri Station, Teima Station(水里車站、鐵馬驛站)
Shui Li Station is a part of the Jieji Line like Checheng Station, and it is also the same with only one side of the train, not much traffic, and when you come here there are fewer crowds and a sense of tranquility, and there are a lot of snack stores around the station with good energy (there are fewer food stalls in the evening).

Tiema Station is a simple restaurant, there are also rental bicycles, you can eat while watching the train slowly pass by Oh! If you are going to the water, I personally recommend coming here to eat, and the price is not too expensive 150RMB~.

Outside the window is the railroad track.

Also see the train entering the platform.

It’s a good meal for the price!

Every time I pass by the water, I see something that looks like a waterwheel. I don’t know what it is, but when I see it, it means it’s not far from the water station.
