Yukimi Recreation Area

Xuejian Recreation Area,Exploring the Mysterious Giant Tree Forest.

雪見遊憩區(Xuejian Recreation Area ) runs for about 20 kilometers to and from Dabangen. At the beginning, the Sima Limit Forest Road is about 1,800 feet above sea level, and you can feel the coolness as you walk through the long green tunnel, and after passing Beikeng Mountain, there are giant trees that keep popping up, as if you are entering a giant forest, and finally, there is a large clearing at the Dabangen site, where you can enjoy a meal while admiring the spectacular scenery!

After parking the car near the Snowy Mountains Recreation Area, you can only start hiking to the front of the Dabangan, our group was walking the Sima Limit Forest Road, although it is a forest road, but you can not drive here (two-wheeled seems to be able to, tire marks can be seen on the ground on the road surface), at first I thought to say that so cool cozy trail why do you need to use the ride it, walking for a while to realize, the road is really full of long….

The view from some parts of the forest road is good – you can see the mountains in the distance.

The first half of the walk is really like a walk, almost flat terrain and shady trees.

I thought to myself, this way, today’s trip should be easy, right? I didn’t have to download the map because my traveling companion had done it before. I believed him at first when he said it wouldn’t be too tiring, but that was just for him…. On the way back, when I passed by this flat section again, I just wondered why it was so far away~!

You will pass through Pak Hang Shan before reaching Dapaeng, and on the trail near Pak Hang Shan, the high humidity makes many of the trees and the ground covered with a thick layer of tundra, as there is less light to shine on.

Beikeng Mountain(北坑山)

The two photos below show the trig point of Beikeng Mountain. Before reaching the trig point, there is a steep climb, and I originally thought that at least the return trip would be downhill, and at least the knee caps would be a little bit harder, but then my partner told me that we had to go down Beikeng Mountain on the way to Dabangen first, meaning that we had to climb again on the return trip.

Taking a break at the trig point, there was finally time to observe the delicate little objects on the ground.

Leaving the trig point, we continue to move forward, the downhill section at the beginning is a gentle downhill, we have to be careful of getting lost here! There are no obvious trails, so in addition to using offline maps, you can also refer to the strips of cloth (tied to trees) left behind by previous hikers.

It started to fog up near noon.

The section down Beikeng Mountain started off gently downhill and then began to get steeper. I didn’t take any pictures of the steeper section, but the next section was not easy to walk, and there were many obstacles, some of which were hard to cross, so I had to climb.

The closer you get to Dabangan, the taller the forest becomes.

Pak Hang Shan

With leaves falling all over the ground or slippery rocks, this section is really not easy to walk, once I put my camera back into my bag and accelerated my progress a little bit, otherwise it would be troublesome if it rains on the way back.

Big Root (大板根)

Officially entering the Giant Wood Forest (I named it randomly), no matter whether it’s towering or already fallen, it looks particularly spectacular. Although I heard other mountaineers around here say, “It’s so boring that the scenery looks the same all the way here,” I was in a hurry to deny it! It’s so beautiful!

This photo is one of my favorites from the trip. Although this tree was not the ultimate Dabangan we were looking for, it was so tall that we stopped to take many photos of it, and the light clouds added a lot of mystery to it.

Looking up through the small forests and surrounded by tall trees, there is a contrast between the fallen and broken trees and the growing life forms.

The best part of arriving at Obanone was having lunch! While eating, I was able to admire this huge tree root. The white notice rows were about my height.

After a short while, the fog started to rise again, we hurriedly ate the food in our backpacks, there was a big open space in front of Dabangan, just find a rock or a fallen wood as a chair, what I remembered here is the small bees, I don’t understand how there are so many small bees at such a high altitude (similar to the kind you can see in flat land), obviously we didn’t see any flowers…, they especially like the sweaty look, they flew until they were wet with sweat. They liked the sweaty look and flew all the way up to the sweaty spots. Other mountaineers were also curious about this phenomenon….

On the way back, I put my camera away, and since it was a long way to go, I concentrated on walking! I started at 8am, arrived at Dabangan around 12pm, had lunch and rested for a while, and started back at 1pm. I arrived back at the parking lot at around 5pm, and my feet were sore the next day!

backhaul

When I got back to the intersection, I immediately took out my camera because I saw this goat.
