Devlan's Trail

Taichung 德芙蘭步道(Devlan Trail ),is covered in green shade.

Devlan's Trail

德芙蘭步道(Devlan Trail ) is located in Taichung’s Guguan, near one of the famous Guguan Seven Heroes, Dongmao Mountain. The trail is gentle and easy to walk, and almost all of the trail is shaded, so you won’t be exposed to the sun, making it a relaxing trail that doesn’t take too long to complete.

Devlan Trail

When I came to Guguan from Tainan, the Devlan Trail was not part of the plan. Since it was already a bit late when I arrived at Guguan after having Chinese food, I wanted to take advantage of the few remaining daylight hours to walk a short trail. I wanted to take advantage of the few remaining daylight hours to walk a short trail, so I chose the nearby Devlan Trail!

Devlan's Trail

The scenery of this trail is generally the same, and can be described as a bunch of trees ~ basically there is no outlook to enjoy, because the shape of the trees are mostly irregular, the scene is rather chaotic, I think it is difficult to take a favorite photo here ~ (middle and high altitude cedar forests are quite easy to shoot ~).

In the first half of the trail, you will pass by two of these small suspension bridges, and it’s rare to see anything outside of the forest. It was a holiday, and there was a lot of traffic in the Valley Pass area, but there were not many tourists on the trail, and it was very quiet!

Two of my fellow travelers, the group walked through a forest full of trees, and although they were full of plants, the trail was clearly well traveled (whether or not it would be damaged by a windstorm in the future was impossible to predict).

德芙蘭步道

Very thick fallen logs lie across the trail and there is no telling how long they have been lying there.

After climbing more than 200 meters, you can see the pavilion, this is almost the highest point of the Devlan Trail, and almost half of the journey, you can take a rest here, there are slopes next to the pavilion, which is forbidden to enter, please follow the signage to return to the right direction.

I found some fern leaves that I liked to photograph, but unfortunately there was no light that day.

The return trip was much easier, all downhill and fewer steps, almost all gently descending land.

Devlan's Trail

What hasn’t changed is that it’s still walking underneath a thick forest of trees.

Occasionally, you can see fallen trees.

Devlan's Trail

The only small section with a fence, next to a small cliff ~, I do not know if you have noticed that the trail is full of fallen leaves, which actually have to be very careful walking, the pile of fallen leaves easy to make people slip.

There is a steeper descent before this small wooden bridge, after which it is almost flat (almost all the way to the parking lot), but be careful when walking across this small wooden bridge, there are some broken wooden slats that are already bare.

When we saw this tower, we said we were done. We could see two towers on the whole trail, and the other one was at the pavilion, and it was almost dark when we got here. Although the trail is not difficult, it’s better not to get lost in the dark, after all, it’s still very dangerous!
