Hsinchu Frog Rock Footpath, views of the forest and waterfall。

Hsinchu Frog Rock Footpath is located in Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County. It’s quite a distance from the city center, so it’s recommended to explore other nearby attractions as well. Although the trail is short and can be completed quickly, the scenery along the way is absolutely worth it!

Due to the entrance of Frog Rock Footpath being next to the road, there is no parking lot nearby. Therefore, you have to park your car at the Frog Stone Market, which is 1.3 kilometers away from the entrance. The market has a parking lot, food stalls, and a camping area. It’s important to note that the Frog Stone Skywalk requires a ticket, and you can purchase the ticket inside the market (the ticket includes shuttle bus service).

Actually, I didn’t know that a ticket was required at the beginning. So, I parked my car at the market and walked over. The 1.3 kilometers on flat ground wasn’t tiring at all. I treated it as a leisurely walk, especially in the winter season. The scenery around was really nice!

When I reached the entrance of the trail, the staff informed me that a ticket was required, and that’s when I found out. On the way from the market to the entrance, there is a dedicated pedestrian walkway, so it’s not dangerous. However, on the way back from the trail exit, there is no pedestrian walkway. If you want to walk the entire way, just turn back within the trail.

The Frog Rock Trail runs parallel to the road next to it, and the bridge in the photo is the road leading to the market.

Whether it’s the paved road or the Sky Trail, both follow the Naluo River. Right from the start, you can see magnificent boulders in the river and the clear green water. Although the waterfall isn’t high, it has a delicate charm.

After walking a short distance, the trail starts to gently descend, getting closer to the valley. Surprisingly, there were no other visitors along the way. I wondered if this place is not well-known, especially since I visited on a weekend when it should be busier.

After passing the first pavilion, there’s a series of S-shaped stairs all the way. Walking down, the view from the bottom looking up is quite nice – it adds a sense of depth.

And at the very bottom, there’s another pavilion. Considering the current condition of the trail when I visited, it was quite good. The ticket price was 100 Taiwanese dollars at that time, some might find it a bit pricey, but I think it’s reasonable. After all, maintaining the environment comes with a cost, and it also includes the shuttle service.

Next to the pavilion is the Rainbow Bridge. The bridge itself is transparent, and looking down can indeed be a bit nerve-wracking. At this point, the crowd has increased. I think it’s because the shuttle operates in stages, and since I walked, I didn’t encounter the gathering crowd.

On the bridge, you can have a direct view of the magnificent Frog Rock Waterfall. Considering it’s winter, the water flow is quite good. This is considered the highlight of the entire trail, featuring a transparent bridge and a waterfall. It’s quite close when you walk from the entrance, making it suitable for all age groups.

As you reach the second half of the trail, you’ll enter the forest. Many large tree ferns grow on the trees, indicating that the humidity along the stream is abundant.

Near the exit, there’s another pavilion. During the afternoon, everyone is concerned about catching the shuttle bus, so there’s not much time to rest and relax. In fact, there’s another trail further back, but it was under maintenance at the time, so I couldn’t explore it. Although this trail is short, it’s well-maintained. If you happen to be nearby, it’s worth checking out.

After exiting the trail, there will be staff directing you to the designated boarding area, which is the small plaza shown in the photo~
