Xitou 竹亭咖啡(Zhuting Coffee),A restaurant in the bamboo forest.
Situated in Lugu Township, Xitou 竹亭咖啡(Zhuting Coffee) is hidden deep in the bamboo forest, with less interference from the outside world and more seclusion! You can choose to camp here, or spend half a day here enjoying a fine meal while watching the natural beauty of the bamboo forest, and the Xitou Scenic Area is only a ten-minute drive away, so it’s a good combination of both trips.

View of surrounding bamboo forest
The windshield was full of raindrops, it was drizzling on the way to Jukjeong Café, the road was thick with bamboo forests, the road was not very recognizable, and the signal from the navigation was intermittent, my mind was filled with the question of whether I had taken the wrong road or not, before arriving at Jukjeong Café.

Parked the car at 11am, there was only an old couple dining in the restaurant (weekdays), I wanted to take a picture of the surrounding scenery first, but was stopped by the owner, he asked me to eat first and then take the picture ~ I think she was afraid that there would be too many customers at noon to make it busy.

After eating, I started to walk to the parking lot to take pictures, the parking lot is not very big, about ten cars can be parked, after the meal has been parked about five, I can only try to avoid them to shoot.

The parking lot is surrounded by small tables and chairs as an outdoor resting area, and the umbrellas are covered with moss, which makes the whole place look like it’s really in the nature.

There are also a couple of maple trees here, which really stand out in the middle of the bamboo forest, with another maple tree in the yellowed background.

A fallen maple leaf hanging in the air by a spider’s thread, you can notice it because the wind is blowing it in circles.

Continuing downhill there is still a whole bamboo woodland.

If you go down one level and look back, you probably won’t see the parking lot.

At this time, there are bamboo forests in all directions, and the open space is supposed to be for camping. While the other customers were eating and it was drizzling, no one came out to walk around, so I had the whole space to myself!

Try to walk into the woodland and look up, enjoying the feeling of being surrounded by bamboo.

It’s really hard to find a place that doesn’t have half of the trash left behind by human beings.

Every time I go to Xitou, it’s either foggy or raining, and the humid environment breeds a lot of small ferns and bryophytes, and I especially like this kind of small green plants.

There are more and more maple trees as you go down the road, and the green maple leaves wetted by the rain are also very pretty.

It was mid-October when I came here, not yet the season when most of Taiwan’s maple leaves change color, but the few yellowish or reddish maple leaves in the large green bamboo forest were particularly eye-catching!

The cobwebs on the maple tree become very special and pretty with the little raindrops.

Exterior of the restaurant
The eaves are covered with green plants.

While my meal was still cooking, I took a few shots of the environment. At eleven o’clock, only the old couple mentioned earlier was dining.

The counter is vintage decorated, most of the tables and chairs are made of bamboo, and the floor is made of wood, except for the pillars, which are made of metal, all of which are very close to nature.

During a short period of heavy rain, only the sound of rain remained in the less crowded store, so it was easy to find an empty seat and settle down.

Hanging on the eaves of the plant, also hangs a spider’s web, carefully observed is a small spider, I have to say, this side of the spider web is quite a lot, but fear of spiders do not have to worry about, these cobwebs are in the trees or on the eaves, no matter whether it is a store or bamboo forest area, in the area where people can walk around, almost will not let your face, stained with cobwebs ~!

In-restaurant meals
I chose to sit next to the pool during the meal, listening to the sound of running water, eating up the mood doubly good, to remind a point, here is the wild, mosquitoes are inevitable ~ I was wearing long sleeves so did not get bitten, if it is a short pants and short-sleeved may need to pay attention to it!

I asked the owner what was available here, and he only said that there was only one type of hot pot, but there were more choices of drinks, so I ordered the hot pot with a glass of mulberry juice, but after I finished my meal, I saw that the customers who had just come in had a menu to look at, so they should be able to choose the type of drink, I guess.
The hot pot is basically my favorite meat, vegetables, and mushrooms, and there is no processed food that I don’t eat – it’s natural and I love it!

The rice should be something like fried rice, very fragrant and delicious, I’m not too good at describing the flavor, after all, I’m not a gourmet hobo ~ the boss said that the bamboo bowl for the rice can be taken home ~ but the bamboo bowl for the vegetables can’t be (I don’t know why).

The following side dish is my favorite, it tastes like the skin of a groundnut ball on the outside and the filling of a groundnut ball on the inside (groundnut balls are hollow, this one is solid), the flavors are similar but different, just delicious!

The dragon’s whiskers are also good, but the sauce underneath is a bit salty.

After I had eaten almost all the food, at 12 noon, other customers came in one after another. Although it was remote, it seemed that there were quite a lot of people who knew about this place!
